This siding square was never meant to be a production item, but many people asked about it and wanted to purchase it. There was much thought put into the design and features of this square specifically for siding.

Here are some of the features:

  1. See through - You can make a mark, slide the square over and you can still see your mark. You can also make a pencil mark/line on the square, then transfer that mark onto the material because it’s clear, then simply rub the pencil mark off the square with your finger.

  2. Colour coded - the “6” & “7” will be a different colour than black so that your mind associates those numbers to a colour meaning less thinking.

  3. No hip/valley numbers - Siding installers never have a need for hip/valley angles, so this eliminates confusion, mistakes and wrong cuts

  4. 8 3/8” square line - this means you can make a continuous square line on most siding and fascia material without flipping the square, saving many motions in a day. For 9” siding, butt the heel of the square against the nailing flange to get the full 9” square line. This also allows you to scribe most gable angles on 7” board and batten siding without flipping the square

  5. 7” heel - this allows the square to fit into tool pouches with a square slot as most rafter squares are 7”

  6. Built in level in the heel - this allows you to quickly find roof pitches, or to be used as a reference to check general level/plumb lines

  7. Roman numerals - when flipped over, you do not have to read mirror image numbers, minimizing errors.

  8. Scribe guides - scribe guides from 1” - 6” at 1/8” intervals for marking rip cuts.

  9. Lightweight - we purposely made this lightweight so that you don’t have to carry a chunk of metal around all day.

We hand made the first one and it was used in the field for over a year without breaking. This being said, this square will break if dropped from high heights or concrete (our test prototype survived a couple of 2 storey falls onto the dirt without breaking, but did not survive a 3 1/2 storey drop - it cracked and was glued and is still being used 10 months later). Due to the nature of this product, there will be no warranty on this item as we cannot control how each person cares for this tool. Each one will be hand painted and hand assembled and is very time consuming Just to pull off the acrylic mask it comes off in tiny pieces due to the laser etching - this is the reason for the price point and limited run.

This is a VERY limited run item. This might be the only time we make this Siding Square due to the amount of labour that goes into each one.
